The highest point in Allen County is just southwest of West Newton, along the Auglaize County line. Auglaize County is to the south.
The two original contours of 1070 feet are just west of Turner / Gossard Road. The contour closest to the road bleeds into Auglaize County. The DEM analysis shows an area above 1072 feet on the Allen County side, with a maximum elevation of 1073.3 feet. Slightly higher ground exists on the Auglaize side of the line. This area is in the vicinity of a farm house, but remember that the Allen County side of the line is closer to the wooded area to the north.
The area slightly to the west, further into the woods, only peaks out at just over 1068 feet. With about a five foot elevation between the two areas, the eastern area is likely the true high point of the county.
