Northern Areas
The two northern areas for Crawford County are the original two areas listed in the COHP book. These are located in fields near the eastern county border with Richland County, just off of route 309 south of the Galion Municipal Airport.
Although the original topo depicts two tiny areas of 1240+ ft, the LiDAR DEM does not go as high. The highest 2-ft contours are 1236+ ft, which are drawn in basically the same location as the two original 1240+ ft contours on the original topo. The maximum elevation in the northern area is 1237.4 feet, and the maximum elevation in the area to the south is 1237.9 feet.
Since both areas are in the same location as the contours in the original topo, and are at virtually the same elevation, both points should be visited.

Southern Area
A new area was found for Crawford County, located in its far southeast corner (Morrow County to the south, Richland County to the east). This area was drawn as a 1230+ ft contour on the original topo. However, the LiDAR DEM depicts a small 1236+ ft contour in this region, with a maximum elevation of 1236.1 feet. I note that this is a bit lower than the two northern points, but with a difference of less than two feet from the northern areas discussed above, this area will be recommended for visiting.
This point is located in a field just north of Route 97 near Blooming Grove, a few miles east-southeast of Galion. It is also about two miles due south of the northern areas described above. The tri-county point is along Route 97 and is virtually coincident with a radio tower just south of the road. The highpoint is northwest of this radio tower.
Although the small "ridge" that the point lies on crosses the Richland County line, the highest bump is not on the line itself -- meaning that this point is not a true liner. Be aware that much higher terrain exists further east along the same ridge, across the county line.
