Dumpling Hill

Dumpling Hill is the highest point in Fayette County, and is basically as easy as they come. Its status is confirmed by the LiDAR DEM.

Although a tiny 1130+ ft contour is drawn on the original topo map, the LiDAR DEM provides a maximum elevation of 1129.3 feet. While Dumpling Hill is clearly the highest point along the ridge -- which follows Route 41 north-northwest -- there are a few other points that get close. One is just south of Dumpling Hill, and has also been depicted in the pictures below. It reaches a maximum elevation of 1128.0 feet, falling within the "two foot" rule -- however its proximity to Dumpling Hill, and my own visit to the site, both shed doubts that it could actually be higher. Thus I will not recommend it for inclusion.

There is also one point right on Route 41 about three-quarters of a mile north of Dumpling Hill (not pictured). The highest spot is on the road itself and has a maximum elevation of 1127.5 feet. I note this anecdotally -- there is probably no need to visit this area.
