Montgomery HP

The highest point in Montgomery County is in a subdivision south of E David Road, near Kettering, Ohio.

The way the subdivision and lots were constructed gives a very un-natural, terraced appearance to the LiDAR DEM. These values are likely correct -- with the understanding that the land itself has been disturbed.

The original topo depicts an oddly-shaped 1090+ foot contour. The LiDAR DEM depicts that the highest ground is in the southern portion of the original contour. This is very near the benchmark Kauffman, located between Eagledale Circle and Stoneybrook Drive. The LiDAR data provides a maximum elevation of 1103.8 feet. The highest ground looks to be due south of the western edge of a brown-roof house -- the house with a driveway coming off the western edge of the cul-de-sac. The center of the highest area appears to be just across the fence line with the yard to the south.

The northern extension of the original 1090+ foot contour is near two large water tanks. The LiDAR DEM provides a maximum elevation in this area of 1099.9 feet -- almost four feet lower than near the benchmark. The highest ground in this area is near the eastern of the two tanks.
